During the early stages of World War II, America remained a neutral force which aimed its goal in providing sources and military assistance to all the other countries. As a result, Germany failed to defeat England in the war and moved its interest towards Soviet Union due to the presence of different resources available there. On the other hand, Japan was another state that was aggressively gaining control over Asia. Somehow, we understand that Japan was also under ‘steel deals’ with America. United States of America understood the Japanese motive behind their expansion which was greatly influenced by the Germany ideals. This moved the United States to place an Embargo on Japan for using its Steel. This adversely affected the Japanese manufacturing of military weapons and fueled the fire between Japan and US. We know that Japan was seeking to increase its power and influence in the Asian region to set the image as a main regional super power and to acquire the raw materials that the country lacked. Japan believed that it was the right time for the small county to grow and to maintain its dominance over China and other Pacific lands. Nationalism was the basic factor that was growing in Japan during 1930 just the way it was growing in Germany. The young generation of Japan was under heavily influenced of t heir leader, Hirohito. When Japan attacked China, it realized the fact that the country is fighting with two strong political wings; the Nationalists and the Communists. However, America supported the Nationalist wing but remained neutral till the very end. During the WWII, America emerged as a super power that can hold supremacy and dominancy on any nation. WWII was the war of technology and improved war-weapons. The American interests in WWII were comprised of different factors. Americans wanted to make sure about the flow of communism and at the same time, America was nervous about Japan’s increasing power in the region and about its move towards South-East Asia. American Foreign Policy would have been damaged if Japan had attacked and took over Philippine. For Americans to safeguard their interest in the region, they thought it is highly important to deploy the atomic bomb. It has been subjected to various attacks in the past with most of them aimed at destabilising India and forming a strong base for the spread of Islam. It is commonly believed that the dispute with Pakistan over Kashmir is the root cause of eruption of Jihadi terrorism in India. Jinnah and the Muslim league were responsible for giving shape to the inherent mindset of Jihad against India and the result of it was the state of Pakistan. However the core values of Pakistan were guided by separatist who followed the basic ideology of Islam. Hence Kashmir is not really the cause of Pakistans jihad against India but the result of it.  [1]   The Talibanisation of Pakistan is the blowback of their powerful military and intelligence establishments flawed policy of using Jihadi indoctrination to advance its geo strategic agenda in the region. Yet, with the so called strategic depth nowhere in sight, not only Indias but even Pakistans own security is at risk due to the threat from Taliban and Al Qaeda. As the menace of Islamic militancy spreads across their country like a jungle fire, the Taliban militia and the Al Qaeda network continues to thrive. Indias extreme tolerance for diverse religions and cultures has been its great weakness. Indians have never fought the invasions and Islamic assaults as defenders of Hinduism. The same approach continued even as India was heading for partition. Mr. Jinnahs change of track from nationalist to separatist path changed the course of history. His association with the Muslim League, dissociation from the Indian National congress and the call of the expected Hindu over-lordship over Muslims in case the British freed India, led to an instant appeal among the Muslims and fuelled his ambition for a separate state of Pakistan. The easy access to India is primarily assisted by the geographical design of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistans occupation of a part of Kashmir was due to Indias poor decision of going to the UN Security Council in Jan 1948 to resolve the Kashmir issue. This led to cease fire and Pakistan occupying a large amount of territory which otherwise could have been easily regained by India considering Indian armys ongoing success during the operation. Birth of the Taliban Taliban is derived from the Arabic word Talib which means one who is seeking or student. It is generally referred to in context of learning religion.  [2]  The birth of Taliban took place during the Afghan Jihad when the Pakistani government had openly supported the Hizb-e-Islami led by Pashtun leader Gulbaddin Hikmatiyar expecting him to gain power in Afghanistan and support their strategic interests. When Hikmatiyar could not attain power in Afghanistan, Pakistan created Taliban. This new band of soldiers who came from south Afghanistan and Northwest Pakistan were initially from the religious schools Darul Uloom in Peshawar and the chain of Binori madrassas in Karachi. They were the products of Maulana Fazlur Rehmans Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam run religious madrassas in NWFP and the Baloch province. By Sep 1996, the Taliban hardliners Sunnis of the Deobandi sect and Afghan young fighters had gained near full control in Afghanistan. This was possible by full co operation and funding b y the ISI.  [3]  Historically, after the Russian occupation of Aghanistan, The American Intelligence agency, the CIA had decide to use the Pakistan intelligence agency, the ISI to organize, finance and train Islamic resistance groups against the Russians. Thousands of them were trained under the supervision of the CIA and sent into Afghanistan to fight the Soviets.  [4]  When the Soviets withdrew, there was lawlessness and chaos in Afghanistan. Amidst the chaos, the Taliban emerged under the leadership of Mullah Muhammed Omar in Sep 94. They were linked to the political- religious parties like the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and breakaway elements of JUI like the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Harkatul Mujahedin, Tehrikul Jihad and Jaish-e-Muhammad. Sunnis to the core they were indoctrinated to the core with Sunni Wahabism and salafism. The relevance of this is seen in the fact that the grand aim of Mullah Omar was not so much to grab power but to cleanse the Afghan society. They adopted a rigid interpretation of Sharia and this fuelled Islamic extremism and non muslims. This became Talibans key defining feature and was seen as the hallmark of Talibanisation. This process is also in vogue in SE Asia and is making regions war on terror more difficult in the years to come. Resurgence of the Taliban Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were the only two major Muslim countries in the world which had given diplomatic recognition to the Taliban government in Afghanistan. The Saudis, in spite of their commitment to Islamic orthodoxy, were close allies of the U.S. with no particular stake in Taliban. In fact, the Saudi rulers were internally as much antagonistic to Osama, as a possible rallying point against the ruling dynasty itself, as America. That left Pakistan only as the sole diplomatic god father of Taliban in the world. For the US in the war in Afghanistan, attacking Taliban was as good as attacking Pakistan for the simple reason that Taliban was out and out a creation of Pakistan. Its hard core fundamentalist Islamists were the products of Pakistani madrassas in its North West Frontier Province. The area around Peshawar was once described by The New York Times as the University of Jihad. And the fundamentalist Islamic movement symbolized by Taliban had tremendous appeal among the peopl e of Pakistan. However under US pressure Pakistan publically ended its support for the Taliban in the aftermath of the Sep 11, 2001 attacks. According to Aryn Bakers 30th June 2008 TIME magazine report, the Taliban in Afghanistan had regrouped after their fall from power and coalesced into resilient rebellion outfits finding sanctuary in the largely lawless tribal areas of Pakistan along the border. The US and the coalition force officials in Afghanistan were always skeptical about the Pakistan Armys ability and the will of its political leadership to fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda combine  [5]  . According to Stephen Cohen Pakistan had always maintained that Taliban with their men and material could add strategic depth against India and help them in waging the proxy war against India. The jehadi groups have been more of a tool of the state rather than a threat to Pakistans security. However due to crackdown on Taliban and Al Qaeda, these groups have turned against Pakistan and have started forming coalitions which were otherwise never expected.  [6]  The Taliban are pairing up with local militant groups in the Punjab and Sindh provinces to push deeper into the country in a bid to reduce Pakistan to a captive territory from where it can launch and sustain its worldwide Jihadi agenda.  [7]   Globalisation of Jihad. The globalization of Jihad territorially is a matter of record of Jehadi terror across the world since early 1990s. What is more significant is the ideological globalisation of Jihad. Jihad now encompasses the whole world, not only as the area of its terror operations but also as the ultimate goal of its mission of Islamisation. The non Muslim world is the prey to the Jehadis waiting to be conquered and Islamised. As US president George W Bush voiced the same feeling when he met the congressional leaders on the morrow of 9/11. He said that the Jehadis hated anything that is non Muslim. METHODOLOGY Statement of the Problem Talibanisation of Pakistan has assisted the terror groups in their attempts to achieve their larger goal of establishing a regional Islamic state. Our government has been addressing the problem only as militancy aimed primarily in JK and has failed to identify the larger motives of these terror groups. Justification of Study Post 9/11 and in the wake of Mumbai attacks, the world focus has shifted towards Pakistan as the breeding ground for the most deadly terror groups in the world which includes Al- Qaeda and Taliban. The main hub of terror has apparently shifted from Middle East to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has been a main ally to the US in the war against terror, but flawed US policies and Pakistans double game of supporting the terror groups has not only failed to stop the growing influence of Taliban and Al Qaeda in the region but provided them a safe breeding ground. India is not a stranger to terrorism, but the growing influence of Taliban in Pakistan has posed a threat of formation of a hub centre of Islamic militancy in Pakistan, from where the ultimate goal of launching a global Jehadi agenda and formation of a regional Islamic state which includes India can be successfully achieved. Taliban sponsored terrorism has definitely increased the threat to our national security manifold, more so in the light of earlier support by Pakistan to Taliban, and the continued nexus between groups like Al Qaida and militant groups operating in Kashmir and Pakistan. Pakistan had created Taliban for selfish issues at the behest of supporting US in their interests in Afghanistan against the USSR. But now having lost control over the Taliban, what is of concern is the future scenario where in the present government in Pakistan may not be able to control its own fundamentalists who with the support of Al Qaeda and Taliban may attempt to take power in their own ha nds and make the already volatile region more explosive. But eventually, the Taliban became an embarrassment to succeeding regimes at Islamabad, leading General Musharraf to abandon the Taliban, at least publicly to satisfy the US and the world. However, President Obama has now announced that Washington could deal with the good Taliban while battling the bad Taliban. This is part of Americas exit strategy from Afghanistan, but is a clear strategic mistake.

Given the obesity issues in the American consumers, the food industry has benefited from this trend. Under the Societal Marketing Concept organizations have to balance company profits, customers’ wants and the society's interests. The problem is to determine what is best for the society in this case. Because there is a difference between short term consumers’ wants and long term consumers’ welfare (Brown, 2005). This issue can be very hard to handle, because it is not all companies market with a social conscience. In one hand consumers say they want healthier foods, but in the other hand, their behavior focus towards unhealthy foods. Some companies may have initiated sincere efforts to provide healthier products; however, it is complicated to modify the consumer’s behavior in this regards (Knowledge@Wharton, 2005). As indicated by The Soy Daily (2003) over recent years rates of obesity have escalated rapidly, increasing consumption of diets high in fats and sugars, and declining levels of physical activity. â€Å"Natural law is the most reliable approach when making judgements about sex and relationships.† Discuss. (35 marks) When either evaluating or disusing this statement we must first consider the main teachings of natural law. For instance; natural law focuses very much on the purpose the potential and the actuality of things and events. It also talks of and attributes these three things to human beings in particular natural looks at the purpose of human beings. Natural contains two types of precepts, one being primary precepts, these are in natural law precepts in which are always true and they are the fundamental principles of natural law and there are five primary precepts including; the preservation of life, reproduction, education of the young, living peacefully in society and worship god. The second type of precepts are the secondary precepts these are worked out from the primary precepts and are hence dependent of our own judgements and therefore clearly differ from the primary precepts. Natural law is an absolute law, in which is true on all situations and times. Natural law is a deontological, in other words a ethical system in which considers that the moral act itself has moral value, for instance telling the truth is always right even when it might cause pain or harm. Although Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) is given the name as the founder of natural law, natural law owes lots of its existence to Aristotle (384-BCE). As for it was Aristotle who originally had the idea that people like every other natural objects have specific nature purpose and function and then later Aquinas linked these ideas with that of the teachings of the Catholic church. Even still to this day natural law is a basic for Roman Catholic teachings and beliefs. When dealing with the idea of judgements relating to sex and relationships there is many points which need to be given consideration. For instance sexual morality, so here we shall consider how we should all show concern to good and bad in relation to sexual relations. For instance we must consider the following; sex as procreative, sex within marriage and premarital sex, homosexuality and contraception. All of which are ideas and elements in which have to be taken account for, especially when making judgements about sex and relationships. Sex as procreation, is something in which is a very historical view of sex. Sex as procreation is the exact feeling in which natural law has towards sex and relationships as; the purpose of sex according to natural law is to procreate. Natural law believes very strongly also in the idea of sex before marriage, as natural law states that in order for a couple to have sex with one another they must first be married this is also what is believed in the terms of the catholic church. As we can see here again how natural law is in fact the bases for so many of the catholic churches ideas beliefs and teachings. As natural agrees and states that people should be in a marriage before having sex, this forms the idea that natural law does not agree with the suggestion or the act of premarital sex. Homosexuality is another issue in which is nearly always raised within the topic of sex and relationships. As natural law’s perspectives are very similar to that of the Roman Catholic churches, we can state that the view in which these both hold is that one in which states that to have sexual inclinations towards someone of your sex is not a sin but to act on these inclinations would be wrong. Within natural there is also the main statement in which says that sex has to be done in order to create a child. So although sex is said to be allowed to be for pleasurable, the main purpose always has to be an intention to have a baby from it. Hence homosexual couples will not follow this rule when having sex with one another as for this impossible for them and hence natural law is against same couple sex as this can never result in the birth of a baby. Contraception is a very controversial topic. Natural law is against the fundamental principle of contraception (stopping a child being conceived). Contraception quite simply goes against one of natural law’s five principles; reproduction, therefore natural law is against any form of contraception, so too is the Catholic Church. Natural law believes that we should not have the power as humans to interfere with Gods work and as child and babies are his work for us to use contraception we would be interfering with his work, hence why contraception is not something in which natural law agrees with. There are many reasons and examples as to why some may see natural law as the most reliable approach when making judgements about sex and relationships. For instance it is universal, so applies in all situations and there can be no misunderstandings or wrong interpretations along the way as this is a universal clear cut approach. Some will also argue that this is a god given approach as the statements in which have become the rule and teachings/beliefs of natural law often come from the bible also not forgetting that natural law has very strong religious ties with the catholic church and hence many will argue that the fact that natural law is a god given approach, in many people’s eyes, will mean that for many this makes it the best approach. Another reason as to why natural law is the best approach is because it does have very strong beliefs as to when it comes to relationships and these strong views in some people’s minds mean that it is a reliable and good approach to use when in the dilemma of relationship questions. However this may not be the case for everyone, as some will see natural law as out of date in general and this aspect of being out of date shines through for lots of people in the views in which natural law shows towards sex and relationships. For example; of sex before marriage being one of these views. For some this idea in which natural law is out of date will mean that for them natural law really isn’t the best approach especially when making judgements about sex and relationships. Also, we must consider here that natural may also for many seem inflexible. Back to the point made earlier which is that natural law is absolute law, in which is true on all situations and times. Although for many this is the exact reason or one of them for why the like natural law this is also for many a negative point of natural law. As it means that natural law is inflexible, and hence some might argue that natural law being inflexible means that it is not the best approach to use, especially in this situation when we are dealing with a the sensitive topic of sex and relationships. In a question like this one we must make sure that we have a clear cut idea of what all the words mean to make sure that everyone is really making the best judgements about whether or not natural law is the most reliable approach when making judgements about sex and relationships. In this question the word in which we need to make sure we have to know what we mean by it is, reliable. To me reliable means that we can trust it, for an approach to be seemed as reliable, to me that means that we can trust all of what the approach has to say on the topic in which it has been said to have been reliable when making judgements on. Reliable in this context I think can also be associated with being fair and a view in which we can all take and all be happy taking. This theory may seem reliable I believe from the perspective of someone who is religious and especially catholic and the views are very similar. This approach may also seem reliable to a person with the perspective that there should be set rules in life and that life is very clean cut and black and white. Someone with the perspective that life needs set rules and regulations and that these rules and regulations should be fixed and set and little of any flexibility. However, this theory may seem not reliable to those who believe that there can’t be absolutes in terms of personal relationships. For instance these people who think like this may argue, are there really absolutes when it comes to personal relationships? As we all know that no relationship is ever the same as no person is ever the same and hence these people may well argue that for such reasons like these that there just can’t be absolutes in situations really involving people and emotions, in which are both a big part of the topic situation e.g. relationships. However, some who believe strongly in natural law will disagree, no doubt and will argue that there can be absolutes in terms of personal relationships and they may argue that everything in life can have and should have absolutes. And one rule in which applies in one aspect of life and surely then be applied to all aspects of life. Those who argue that there can’t really be absolutes in terms of personal relationships might say that other theories due to this are more reliable. For instance, they might put forward Kant or utilitarianism as being more reliable. This could be because they are seen as being more flexible theories. Especially utilitarianism, as utilitarianism is a teleological theory, one in which argues that moral actions are right or wrong depending on their out as opposed to natural law which is not a teleological theory and is a deontological theory instead therefore is a theory in which is not very flexible and is a theory which is based on moral rules and whether action itself is right or wrong. How Their Life Influenced Their Poetry

Maya Angelou’s poetry was influenced by the many things that Maya did and had gone through in her life. Mayas depressing and sad childhood also influenced her by creating inspiring poems. Maya had gone through a lot in her in her life when she was young. This helped her write her thoughtful and interesting poems. A poem that was influenced by Mayas life is â€Å"Still I Rise†. Slavery, racism, and discrimination in the poet’s life influenced this poem. â€Å"Leaving behind nights of terrors and fears I rise.Bringing the gift that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and hope of the slaves. † This quote shows you that Maya had a tough time in her life. Maya when she was younger was sent back to live with her mother after her parents divorce and was rapped by her mother’s boyfriend. Several of Mayas uncles murdered her mother’s boyfriend and after this catastrophe Maya didn’t talk much. What helped her escape that loneliness and depressing life was writing poetry. Maya would express her feelings all into a piece of paper and make it into poetry.That’s what helped Maya rise. â€Å"Still I Rise† is a great poem. It shows how strong and brave she was. Angelou wrote this poem expressing that people can say or do what ever they want but you are still going to rise. In other words people can try to hurt you but if you’re proud of your self and proud of whom you are then that will help people back off because they know and can sense that nothing can bring you down. A poem called â€Å"Our Grandmothers† is also a poem that was really influenced by discrimination and racism in Mayas life.Angelou used to be discriminated because of her color and race. Being separated from her mother at such a young age and with a lot of racism going around at that time influenced Maya to write â€Å"Our Grandmothers†. In the poem a woman named Momma is going to be sold by the master away from her children. But Momma tells her children to be strong and say â€Å"I shall not be moved†. My opinion is that the theme of the poem is that no matter who you are, where you come from, or what color or religious you are you are all the same.Everyone is unique and special in their own way. Just because you’re a different color then someone else it doesn’t mean that you have to mistreat or be mean to them. Last but not least is â€Å"Phenomenal†. This poem was influenced by her confidence in life. â€Å"Now you understand just why my head’s not bowed, I don’t shout or jump about or have to talk real loud, when you see me passing it ought to make you proud†. This means that you don’t have to act all crazy, dress up, act up or anything just for people to notice. You should be confident and just be yourself.Being confident will help you get far in life. For example Maya is very confident and she has done a lot of great things in her life. Being con fident and being who she is not acting like someone else helped her achieve it. When Maya Angelou was younger, she loved to work in her grandmother’s store. She loved everything about it and working in the store is what practically made her such a hard worker. Since she was used to working so hard in the store when she grew up most of the things were mostly a piece of cake for her because she was used to it.Also because of Mayas hard work, Maya has achieved a lot of great things in her life. Especially maintaining a baby at a young age by her self before she even graduated from high school. Maya has reached a lot of goals and has accomplished a lot of her dreams because of all the hard work she has done. Maya Angelou is a very lucky woman. She has had an opportunity to become famous and publish her poems into a book. Maya even had the opportunity to write a poem for Clinton who asked her to write one just for the occasion.Maya is an African- American woman that people can lea rn a lot from. Maya Angelou is a very phenomenal and intelligent woman. All of these poems were influenced by Mayas life. Maya has been through out a lot in her life. She is such an incredible poet and woman. She’s so elegant and intelligent. Her intelligence is also what helped her be everything she was and is today. Maya is the poet I chose because of the way she expresses herself in her poems also because of the way Maya makes her poetry sound so interesting and understandable.
